Treatment for Constipation During Pregnancy

Constipation is known to be a fairly common problem during a woman’s pregnancy. One of the main reasons for this occurrence is due to the increase in progesterone which is a hormone. This causes the food moving through the digestive tract to slow down.

This problem can further intensify in the later stages of the pregnancy. It is caused by the pressure of the uterus which is growing in size and thus bearing down on the woman’s rectum. Iron supplements which are prescribed by the doctor can further worsen the constipation condition.
