For most of the woman’s menstrual cycle, the cervix tends to remain firm, and is found to be positioned low and it is closed. Some women can experience their cervical changes even earlier than others, thus qualifying for the high cervix early pregnancy.

The cervix can change on a daily basis when pregnant or even when not. It can even change its height and its position if the woman is constipated or has just relieved herself.

The cervical position is the third fertility sign, and is probably the most evasive. The high cervix in late pregnancy is another sign that doctors look out for. There are different ways in which to check the position of the cervix. This can be done by standing with the leg raised on the basin etc and gently inserting tow fingers into the vagina. The doctor will normally check the position of the cervix by making the woman lie down flat on her back with her knees raised. If a woman has given birth vaginally before the stretching will have caused the opening to be more open.
