The increased blood flow too all areas of the body can even cause additional discharges and swellings. One such swelling is swelling up of the labia. The increased blood flow can cause labia varicose veins to occur during pregnancy.

A pregnant woman can often feel labia discomfort, ache, cramps or pressure during the pregnancy. The incidence of varicose veins is called varicosities. It can occur on the external part of the labia or even near the anus. These cramps can come and go and will change as the pregnancy comes along. It varies from woman to woman and symptoms can also change. For some the pain in unbearable while others find it annoying.

The swelling of the vaginal walls and labia can also act as pregnancy indicator. If you are not aware of your pregnancy, now is a good time to get it checked by either taking a home pregnancy test or by visiting your doctor. Occasionally acute pain and discomfort can be as a result of an infection too and should be checked out. If you notice black spots floating about then you could also be exhibiting signs of preeclampsia and should immediately visit a doctor. The pain can be so acute that you might also feel like you are suffering from hemorrhoids. The increased blood flow to your vagina does increase your sexual drive and may make you want to have sex more often.

Rest is the only real treatment for it. Sometimes sitting for long periods of time can aggravate the condition. Walking is a good exercise as it keep the blood moving and from preventing the buildup in one vein. Some natural remedies are also known to help. Using essential oils of calendula with myrrh, chamomile and marjoram mixed in it has been known to give some relief.
