Treating body acne during pregnancy is not difficult, provided you do not accede to the use of medication to assist you in doing so. Getting to the root of the problem is the primary concern when beginning to treat a problem such as body acne during pregnancy. The change in the balance of hormones during a pregnancy causes the body to produce excessive amounts of oils that nourish the skin. When the excess oil blocks the pores, pimples pop up, making the skin look unhealthy and uncared for. Body acne in pregnancy can cause a lot of distress to the expectant mother, who is probably not happy with the way she looks, anyhow. Because of the change in shape and size of her body, a woman tends to feel unattractive and can experience severe bouts of depression at times. The feeling of being unattractive can cause a woman to have sleepless nights, leading to a lack of sleep, which will further worsen the way she looks.

Pregnancy and body acne need not cause women as much trouble as they imagine it to, but a few simple seeds of advice need to be followed.

  • To begin with, it is important that you drink plenty of water during your pregnancy. Not only does this help to flush out your system of toxins that could be the probable cause of all your acne problems, but it also keeps the skin hydrated and looking healthy.
  • While cleansing the skin, avoid the use of chemical based soaps and lotions that may aggravate the condition.
  • Use herbal cleansers instead.
  • Eat a lot of fruits and vegetables that will help to balance the nutrition that your body is being given, thereby enabling a restoration in the hormonal balance during your pregnancy.

Acne always tends to leave a certain amount of scars after you have finished treating the condition, but you can seek advice on scar removal and get back to looking great.
