Contact your health care practitioner immediately and get yourself checked thoroughly. Some of the common causes of such pains are ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage and pre term labor.

Ectopic pregnancy is a serious case in which the fertilized egg is not able to reach the uterus and therefore attaches itself outside of it. The egg may attach itself to the fallopian tube and if the egg keeps on growing in there, it may end up rupturing the tubes. Usually a case of ectopic pregnancy is diagnosed in the early stages of pregnancy. However, if for some reason, the condition is not diagnosed and timely treatment is not given, the condition could become fatal for the pregnant mother.

Symptoms for Lower Abdominal Pain During Pregnancy

Some of the common symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy are dizziness, spotting or bleeding, pain in the back and shoulder, and lower left abdominal pain during pregnancy.

Though rare, pain in the lower abdomen could also be a sign of an impending miscarriage. Light or heavy menstrual bleeding and intense cramping in the abdomen are some of the symptoms of a miscarriage. Some women may also experience pain in their back. If all these symptoms are present, contact your doctor immediately.

Pain in the lower abdomen can be serious especially when it is experienced in the later stages of the pregnancy. Though such a pain may mean that the uterus is stretching to accommodate the growing fetus, it may also be a sign of pre term labor. The cervix begins to dilate and the labor is premature.
