This option is generally presented to women who have a miscarriage during the initial twelve weeks of pregnancy. Treatment in this manner proves to be very difficult for most women. After a diagnosis the woman is informed of an impending definite miscarriage. The woman then goes back home and allows the miscarriage to occur naturally. A follow up with the doctor is required as instructed by him. The woman requires plenty of rest, especially in the pelvic region. She also needs to examine her vaginal discharge for signs of conception tissue which needs to be expelled from the body as they are products of the failed pregnancy. If there is excessive bleeding, or pain is severe and accompanied by fever, immediate medical attention is required. Treatment by observation may last from hours to a few days. In some cases it may even take weeks.

Second Treatment for Miscarriage

The second treatment for a miscarriage is medication.

This is usually done where there is an ectopic pregnancy or if miscarriage occurs during the second trimester. Miscarriage treatment in case of an ectopic pregnancy is done through the use of a drug known as methotrexate. Administration of this medication causes the fetal cells to stop dividing, thereby allowing for a miscarriage. Upon receiving the drug, miscarriage will occur after 2 to 6 weeks. Another method of medication is insertion of prostaglandins into the vagina. This allows the cervix to soften, enabling dilation during contractions. Drugs to induce contractions may also be given so that the byproducts of conception may be expelled from the body.

Third Treatment for Miscarriage

The third treatment of a miscarriage is surgery. A procedure known as dilatation and curettage is used to dilate the cervix and extract the endometrial lining through suction or curettage. This will allow for removal of the products of conception. Proper medical consultation is required when opting for any of these miscarriage treatments so that the right guidance may be provided and proper physical and emotional recovery may take place.
