Week By Week Pregnancy Monitoring

The way any woman feels during her pregnancy on a week by week can change a lot. This is a result of various reasons but it is vital that she monitors her pregnancy on a week by week basis thus ensuring that along with her baby, she too stays healthy and well. Most doctors are able to monitor a woman’s pregnancy on a regular basis through each week and thus keep the woman informed of all the developments and changes that accompany any pregnancy. The doctor will be able to tell the mother exactly how her baby is developing through each week. In the initial months of the pregnancy the doctor will not really do too frequent checkups but these increase in frequency the closer a woman gets to her delivery date.

Pregnancy Tests

The most common tests that any doctor will perform on a pregnant woman on a week by week basis are the blood pressure checks and the woman’s weight check. These checkup results normally change on a week by week basis and hence a doctor or the gynecologist will need to monitor them closely to keep a check on whether the pregnant woman is putting on the correct weight. The pregnant weight gain will also be an indication of the weight of the fetus. The woman’s blood pressure can also change on a week by week basis and needs to be monitored closely to ensure it does not rise too high or fall too low. For those women who do suffer from any kind of blood pressure related problem, the normal course would be to admit them into hospital and to monitor their blood pressure closely.

Once the woman enters her third trimester in her pregnancy, the doctors will be able to monitor the baby effectively. There will be different checkups done to the mother at regular intervals to check on the health of both the mother and the baby. A sonography helps to check for any problems and if a condition that can be prevented is detected, the doctors will intervene and provide the necessary medication. Sometimes a lot of the parents or relatives would like to know the sex of the baby. In some countries, the doctors will not tell the mother the sex of the baby. A lot of parents also opt not to find out the sex of the child and prefer to be surprised at the end.
