During this trimester various hormonal changes take place in the body that tend to affect almost every organ of the mother’s body. Some symptoms experienced by women in the first trimester are swollen or tender breasts with protruding nipples, mood swings, food cravings, heartburn, weight gain or loss, headaches, frequent urination, and heartburn. As the pregnancy progresses most of the discomforts experienced in the first trimester tend to go away on their own.

Second Trimester

The second trimester commences with week 13 and ends with week 28. Most women tend to find the second trimester easier to handle than the first as symptoms such as tiredness and nausea disappear in this trimester in most women, As the baby grows, the mother’s abdomen will start expanding and towards the end of the trimester the baby’s movements may also be felt by the mother. Common symptoms observed during the second trimester include body aches especially in the groin, back and thighs, stretch marks in various parts of the body, darkening of the area round the nipples, itching on the palms, abdomen and soles of the feet and even swelling of the feet, face and hands.

Third Trimester

The third and final trimester of pregnancy lasts from week 29 to week 40 and a pregnancy week by week update will state that most women in this trimester will find it difficult to breathe initially as the baby has grown considerably and this will also put added pressure on the bladder. Common symptoms during this trimester are shortness of breath, tender breasts, and false labor. Similarly a pregnancy week by week detailed guide also tells about the changes a baby will go through wherein during the first trimester all major organs of the baby have begun to form and the baby’s heart beat now has a regular rhythm. The baby’s muscles and nerves also start coordinating with each other. In the second and third trimester the baby is very active and the skin and bones have also formed. The baby’s body also starts storing vital minerals and vitamins.
