Week 6 Of Pregnancy

When we are speaking about the week 6 of pregnancy, then it means that stage where your have been pregnant for an entire month. The sixth week is the fourth week after conception. What you experience in your sixth month of pregnancy may be different from what your best friend experienced when she was pregnant. Every pregnancy is different and there are differences in the growth rates.

After being pregnant for a month now, you might notice a few changes in your body and you might feel that some of your clothes are tighter around the waist. You might gain some weight in your breasts, face and legs. You might also experience constipation or heartburn at this stage. However, the symptoms of pregnancy aren’t very severe at this point. But if you go in for a pelvic examination, your physician can feel your uterus and find out about the changes in the size. If you have an ultrasound, you can see the heart of the baby beating, even though you may not be able to hear it with a Doppler.

Till the tenth week of your pregnancy, you will be in embryonic period. This is a very crucial time for the development of your baby, and the embryo can be vulnerable to developmental interferences now. The embryo is very tiny, but it is growing very quickly. It is at this time that the baby’s eyes and the brain chambers are beginning to form. Buds appear and develop into legs and arms later on.

You might have your first prenatal appointment at this time. The first prenatal appointment is the longest and this is the time that your physician will take down your health history. You should familiarize yourself with your doctor now and ask any questions that you have in mind. You should tell your doctor about any previous abortions, stillbirths or miscarriages. If you are taking any medicines then tell your doctor about it. If you are allergic to something, do tell your doctor about that too. You will be given a Pap smear and a pelvic exam to find out if your uterus is the right size. A breast examination might also be done at this stage. Lab tests are also done at this visit.

An early ultrasound may also be done to confirm the pregnancy, to date the pregnancy, and to check for abnormalities.
