A baby at 16 weeks pregnant is halfway through the pregnancy and is therefore relatively well developed. The baby has grown considerably in size during this time. The baby at 16 weeks pregnant measures about 10 cm from the rump to the crown. It also weighs about a 100 g now and is well on its way to one of the fastest growth spurts that it will experience. In the next few weeks, the baby is set to add more length to its body and double its weight.

...show a fully grown baby from the outside. The baby starts showing activity, and you may be able to see it grabbing and pulling at the umbilical cord in the ultrasounds. When the baby clutches the umbilical cord too hard, it may cease to get enough air. When that happens, the baby usually lets go of the umbilical cord so that enough air can pass through.
Apart from the size of baby 16 weeks pregnant, the overall physical development of the baby is also quite well formed now. A baby in a 16 weeks pregnant ultrasound would show as a fully formed baby that is capable of fine and gross motor movements. The head of the baby is usually more erect and the eyes move closer together. The baby is able to breathe, inhaling and exhaling the amniotic fluid in which it is immersed. The baby’s urinary system and circulation becomes completely functional, and physiologically, it is in full working order. The baby is also very active during this time.
At 16 weeks pregnant, the belly of the mother begins to stretch and grow. The mother is carrying quite a bit of weight now, and this makes the ligaments on the sides of your body stretched. As the uterus and the pelvic walls stretch more and more, you may feel some pain in your sides, especially when you move suddenly. If the pain grows worse, you may be suffering from sciatica and should see a doctor about it.
If at 16 weeks pregnant, no baby movement is felt, this may be a serious problem. You should ideally get a checkup and an ultrasound to make sure that your baby is developing normally. It is important to note that all babies grow a little differently from each other. If you feel that the 16 weeks pregnant the baby development is still slow, check with your doctor and take his/her medical opinion.
