Identify Early Pregnancy Signs

Pregnancy and child birth is one of the most thrilling experiences that a woman could go through. There are certain signs that indicate to a woman that she is carrying a child. The most common sign looked for is a break in the regular menstrual cycle. Although irregularity in the menstrual cycle could be indicative of other underlying conditions, such as poor diet or stress, it is the primary sign for a pregnancy. After having missed your period for approximately seven days from the normal cycle, a pregnancy test can be carried out to confirm your doubts.

Other tell-tale signs of a pregnancy are tenderness of the breasts and the growing of the areola. However, the traditional sign linked with pregnancy is morning sickness, which causes an expectant mother to bring up during the early hours of the morning. This, however, is not the case for all women, for in certain cases, women tend to feel nauseous during others times of the day too. Hormonal changes that take place in the body are known to cause mood swings and fatigue. Hence, during early pregnancies, women tend to feel exhausted very easily - another well known sign of pregnancy. Hormonal changes that take place in the body of a woman who is expecting could also cause mild headaches, which are known to be linked with early symptoms of pregnancy. There will also be the need to sleep frequently. Sudden and unexplained pain in the back could also indicate pregnancy. If a woman is not careful about posture early in the pregnancy, the back pain could become unbearable during the latter stages.

Home pregnancy test kits are readily available over the counter and you can use one to determine whether you are pregnant. These urine pregnancy tests are inexpensive and rather accurate. To confirm a positive result, you will have to visit your gynecologist.  When you receive confirmation of your pregnancy, it is important that you follow a healthy lifestyle. Drinking plenty of water and eating healthy foods especially rich in folic acid, calcium and iron will ensure that your baby gets all the nutrition that is required for healthy development. Keeping your mind and body free from stress will further ensure that you get all the rest needed for the good health and proper development of your unborn child. Light exercises too can help to keep you healthy and will increase circulation. However, do not start any exercise program without consulting your doctor first.
