It is advisable for any expectant mother to consult with her gynecologist before attempting any form of yoga exercise.

Yoga during pregnancy can be of great help to relieve the stress and tension being felt in certain parts of the body. Like any good thing, however, pregnancy yoga also has negative effects. People who are not educated in the art of yoga must not attempt any form of the art, for fear that there may be an attempt to contort the body into a position that may pose a risk to the development of the unborn child. Asking a person who is trained in the art of yoga is always helpful, because he or she could advise you on the best exercises that will help you with your pregnancy. It is extremely important that you provide your instructor with the medical facts of your pregnancy so that the exercises chalked out for you are in unison with the requirements and stages of your pregnancy.

If you have undertaken yoga pregnancy exercises and feel discomfort with any of the pregnancy yoga poses, it is necessary that you inform your instructor of the same, and cease the practice of that particular exercise. Breathing exercises practiced by yoga enthusiasts are beneficial in replenishing energy levels and relieving stress from the body. During the process of childbirth, the breathing techniques taught by yoga instructors, proves to be extremely helpful. Similarly, the exercises and various poses learnt under guidance from an instructor help to relieve the strain and stress experienced by the body during a delivery. Not only does yoga help to relieve stress and stay fit during a pregnancy, but the continued practice of the exercises learnt will help to get the mother on the road to a quick and healthy recovery.
