As the baby grew in the womb, a regular check was kept on the development of the fetus through an ultrasound. During the first few weeks, the heartbeat could be noticed. As time passed, the baby’s body was formed with the buds from where the limbs would emerge. During the later stages of development inside the womb, the internal bone structure and functioning of the organs can be monitored. After the baby is born, there are further developmental processes that take place. The eyes begin to focus on objects around, and the baby reacts to sounds that are made in the vicinity. Similarly, the baby begins to recognize his or her parents and primary caregivers and will eventually make different sounds and actions, based on the requirement of the given moment. There are a number of books and other forms of literature available on the development of baby levels month by month. However, these are only guidelines and should not be strictly adhered to. Different children develop at different stages and they should be given the freedom to grow at their own pace. Some children achieve a number of milestones during the first few months and then tend to slow down a bit. There are other children who take long to achieve milestones in the early stages and then achieve milestones miraculously over a short period of time. Still other children have a very gradual achievement of milestones, but this should not cause parents too much concern. Children learn best when they are given opportunities and exposure to various situations, that will benefit them in learning and progressing.
