The ideal food for babies is breast milk and enough can't be said about its health benefits for your child. However, a number of women opt to formula feed their babies. This could be due to various reasons such as the need to go back to work, painful nursing, mother-infant separation for a long time, and if the baby's sucking reflexes are poor. Baby feeding formulas are, to some extent, developed in such a way that they duplicate human milk. However, an exact substitute for human milk has yet to be developed. ...a healthy choice for your baby. Very often women feel guilty when they are unable to breastfeed. However, a formula that is commercially prepared will be able to meet you baby's nutritional requirements as well. The best thing that you can do for your child is to love him or her. it is the bond that develops between you that is important. So whether you are breastfeeding or using baby feeding formula doesn't matter, feeding is the time you can connect with your child.

There are different baby feeding formulas that are available in the market today and choosing one can be an overwhelming decision. There are three basic forms that infant formulas are available in. The first is the least expensive and involves mixing powders with water. The second are liquid concentrates that need to be diluted and the last are pre-mixed liquids that can be directly poured into bottles. This last form is the most expensive as compared to the other two. However, these can be pretty convenient while travelling and if sterile water is not quickly available. Within these choices you have even more to choose from such as cow's-milk-based formulas, soy-based formulas, and hypoallergenic formulas and more.

All formulas that are manufactured in the United States meet the strict standards set by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). So just because a particular formula is a recognized brand versus a generic one, does not mean that it's the best thing for your baby. If you are confused as to which brand to pick, check with your doctor as to what might be suitable for your baby. Talking to other parents and finding out more about the formula they use can also help.

No matter what type of formula you opt for, always check the expiration date on the cans and bottles that contain the formula. Also make sure that these cans and bottles are not damaged and leak when you buy them.
