The first trimester is the most important and crucial part of all the pregnancy stages. During the first trimester your baby grows from a single fertilized cell to an embryo that implants itself inside the uterine wall. Your baby starts developing by this time, its organs start taking shape, it starts moving, and the hair follicles and nail beds are formed.

For the mom-to -be, the first trimester is a very busy period. By week three you may experience morning sickness, headaches, nausea, and mood swings to a greater extent. However, the symptoms differ from person to person. Due to the change in hormonal levels you might experience a metallic taste in your mouth.

The first trimester is the most important phase during pregnancy. If you neglect your health during this time, it could result in a miscarriage. By the third month of pregnancy you can hear your baby’s heartbeats through a stethoscope. Your baby is about four inches long and weighs more than an ounce. By the end of the first trimester, you may also experience abdominal pains due to the stretching of ligaments that support your uterus.

Ask your doctor to help you prepare an exercise and diet plan for each of the pregnancy stages. Drink plenty of water and add extra fiber to your diet. Consume raw fruits and vegetables to remain healthy.

The first trimester can be a turbulent time for pregnant woman. You may experience symptoms that you have never experienced before. But, these are temporary discomforts and most of these problems will go away as your pregnancy progresses.
