There are several things that parents need to teach their children right from the beginning. Potty training is one task that seems to fill many of the parents with dread. There are several mothers who look for tips on how to potty train baby boys, because they believe that it is a difficult feat. Moreover, it may seem like boys take longer to get potty trained than girls do. However, potty training baby boys can be quite easy, if a few simple steps are followed.

Before deciding to potty train baby boys, it is important for parents to determine if the time is right. Trying to train a child too soon, could cause the child to fear the toilet and develop an aversion towards it. Although the perfect age to potty train a baby is 18 months, there are several children who may take a little longer.

Fortunately, there are several experts who have set down useful guidelines on how to potty train baby boy. Given below are some simple steps that can help parents in potty training baby boys:

Dedicate at least a week or two, towards the potty training attempts. In case the parents are busy or have to work, other family members or baby sitters need to carry on the potty training schedule.
A proper baby potty training schedule needs to be followed on a regular basis. It is best to put the baby boy use the toilet first thing in the morning. During the rest of the day, the child should be encouraged to use to toilet every 20 minutes, after a meal. Towards the evening the consumption of liquids should be reduced, especially after dinner. During the nights, children should be encouraged to use the toilet twice. However, each child or parent may want to follow a different schedule.
Using the toilet in the right manner is as big an achievement to a child, as achieving any other milestone. Therefore, boys should be applauded and praised or perhaps even rewarded in any way, to encourage them to use the toilet, whenever they need to go.

Unfortunately, there is a strong possibility that baby boys could have accidents, in spite of being potty trained. This does not mean that the mothers’ attempts to potty train baby boys have been unsuccessful. Such accidents should be treated as a one off and further attempts on how to potty train baby boys should be resumed, just like normal.
