Baby Potty Training Problems - Manage them Easily
Potty training can be one of the most daunting tasks for new parents, especially when it comes to determining the age at which the baby should be initiated into the process. It has been found that babies less than a year old have very little control over bladder and bowel movements. Thus, trying to train infants in toilet rules can turn out to be quite a frustrating experience for inexperienced parents. Patience and care are required on the part of the parents. The best period to begin such training is when the baby is between 18 to 24 months old. You should observe when the baby begins to have a regular pattern in urinating or defecating. If the baby remains dry for more than two hours at a stretch or is dry even after a nap then you should probably begin her toilet training. The readiness to learn toilet rules may vary from one baby to another owing to physical and emotional readjustments that each needs to make with the potty.
The first step towards potty training your baby is to be able to understand when s/he feels the urge to relieve him/herself. Clues like facial gestures, body movements and sounds that the baby makes are clues that parents often learn to recognize as signaling the right time to take her to the potty. Even if the child is not old enough to put into words her urge to relieve herself, you should try and help her go to the toilet by speaking to her directly. Some parents also make a hissing sound to after seating the baby to the potty to make her understand that she can begin urinating or defecating. When done repeatedly, this helps the baby form a mental association between the sound or the words and the act of relieving herself, with the result that whenever she feels the urge, she would also immediately think of the potty. Make sure that you stay around the baby when she is relieving herself. This will make her feel comfortable with the whole business and dispel fears about the potty itself. Also, wipe the child clean after she is done with a soft toilet tissue, dispose it and wash your hands with soap solution, all in front of the baby, so that she understands these hygienic measures as part of a necessary ritual. Once she is old enough, encourage her follow these steps herself.
