Parents are usually able to tell when their daughter is ready for potty training. The age at which it occurs is different from child to child. Some children may be ready at age one, while others may show readiness at ages two and three. ...or play area. The chair must be kept clean at all times. A fun way to get her involved in the process is to allow her to pick a potty chair of her favorite color. The more she likes the chair, the more likely she is to sit on it. Patience is very important during potty training as children may initially show interest in the task, and then suddenly become disinterested. Ensure that you do not punish or scold the child for accidents and soiled diapers. It takes time and practice for the child to learn this new task. Setting up a routine works well in getting the child used to the potty. Have her sit on the potty at certain times during the day such as after waking up in the morning, after meals and before bed time. She will learn to wait to use the potty during these times. But also allow her to develop a schedule that she is comfortable with.

Another important tip in potty training for girls is to avoid having the child wear a skirt or dress during the task. It may seem that skirts make the process easier, but they actually make it more difficult since they have to be held up at the front at back. They may also slip and get wet in the potty. Correct posture while sitting on the potty is essential. Girls must be taught to sit straight with the buttocks tucked underneath and the knees kept together. Girls are also more susceptible to urinary tract infections and hence they must be taught the correct way of washing and wiping themselves, which is from front to back. This will prevent the spread of bacteria from the anal area into the vagina and urethra.
