As soon as you decide to have a baby, it is a good idea for you to consult your OB/ GYN and undergo a preconception checkup. During this session, it is customary for your health care provider to ask you questions about your overall health, any illnesses that you may have suffered in the past, your family medical history as well as your dietary and lifestyle habits.

  • Add prenatal vitamins, like folic acid, calcium tablets and other nutritional supplements to your daily diet.
  • Keep a record of your blood type as well as your partner’s blood type.
  • Check your family history for any pregnancy-related problems or birth defects.
