A pregnancy ultrasound is a very effective tool for women who want to know how big is the baby at 22 weeks pregnant as it will allow them to observe their baby and track its development throughout the pregnancy. The size of baby at 22 weeks pregnant will be almost 11 inches in length and similarly the weight of baby at 22 weeks pregnant will be around 1 pound. At this stage of the pregnancy the baby will look more and more like a newborn. The baby at 22 weeks pregnant will have more distinct eyebrows, lips and eyelids and will have even more developed tooth buds that will be present just beneath its gums. Similarly the eyes of the baby at 22 weeks pregnant will have formed however the part of the eye that gives it its color known as the iris would still have to develop.

During pregnancy week 22 the baby’s body will be covered with fine hair known as lanugo and there will also be deep wrinkles in the skin of the baby. These wrinkles will be observed on the baby’s skin till the baby starts developing fat that will eventually add on to its muscles. The pancreas are the most important organs required for the production of some essential hormones and these organs will start developing in the baby at 22 weeks pregnant. The baby at 22 weeks pregnant will also have a developing and gradually maturing reproductive and digestive system. Additionally , the baby at 22 weeks pregnant will also start developing fingernails and as the pregnancy progresses and the baby is born, the baby may even be ready to have its nails trimmed. Although it may not be visible externally, the baby at 22 weeks pregnant will also have various organs that are developing and will start to specialize in their unique functions. At the same time, externally, the baby will be seen having full lips and also the first signs of the development of teeth. While the baby is at 22 weeks pregnant, the mother may also notice some changes that her body may go through at this stage of the pregnancy which include the development of stretch marks. These stretch marks are mostly found on the abdomen, breasts and thighs of the mother and they may vary in color being from pink to white to dark brown and even purple depending on the color of the mothers skin.
