...in a number of social as well as marital problems. Because of the advancement of science, however, the medical fraternity has identified a few methods of helping these women also have children of their own. An embryo transfer is one of the most effective and commonly used methods of impregnation and is performed on an outpatient basis without the use of any anesthesia. The procedure needs to be performed with some amount of care and precision and will require the patient to lie down on a bed with her legs up in stirrups and the cervix being exposed with the help of a vaginal speculum. Some embryos will then be suspended in a culture medium and drawn into the transfer catheter to prepare for the embryo implantation. This catheter is then guided into the cervix and its contents released the entire procedure should take anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes after which the doctor may advise the patient to get a couple of hours of bed rest. A lot of women are usually first a little apprehensive about the embryo implantation pain after looking at the size of the transfer catheter and factoring in that there is not anesthesia.

The embryo implantation symptoms are the same as with any normal pregnancy, with the woman’s body adapting to create an environment that will aid in a healthy delivery. However, one should be advised of the fact that a success rate of embryo impanation is rather low with only about 10% of all embryos actually becoming babies. As a result, a number of expectant parents tend to blame themselves citing factors like the embryo implantation timing or other sequences of events to be the root cause of the problem even though they might have done everything required to help the procedure be a success.
