How To Soothe Toddler Cough Naturally?

Fortunately, there are many ways in which you can cure toddler cough or at least reduce it significantly, without medication. Given below are several remedies and steps that will help calm toddler cough problems:

  • Add moisture to the air, especially during the nights or when the child sleeps, to soothe toddler cough and get rid of irritants in the throat. You could place a humidifier in the toddler’s room to help him or her sleep peacefully.
  • Get the bathroom to fill up with steam by running the hot water and keeping the door shut. Once the bathroom is steamy, make the toddler sit on your lap in the steamy room for at least 15 minutes. This will soothe the throat and reduce the irritation which leads to coughing.
  • Make sure that the toddler drinks plenty of fluids during the day, especially warm water, as this will not only moisten and soothe the throat, but will also make it easier for the body to dislodge and expel the phlegm.
  • Prepare a concoction with a teaspoon of honey, a pinch of turmeric powder and a glass of warm milk and feed it to the toddler for faster relief from the cough.

In case you are trying to soothe toddler coughing at night, it may be best to consult a doctor and identify the possible causes, as this could be a symptom of a serious medical condition, such as bronchitis, sinusitis or asthma.
