An infant growth chart or calculator for boys and girls is used primarily to examine the growth and developmental patterns over a period of time. In case a high percentile is obtained at one point, it does not necessarily pose a problem. The weight of adults tends to fluctuate on and off, and the same goes for children as well. Therefore it is advisable to determine a growth pattern by tracking the child's growth over a period of time. Most children tend to stay within the same percentile range, but slight variations are likely to occur now and again. Continuously reducing percentiles may be indicative of a problem and must be discussed with a doctor.
