Children grow very fast and especially toddlers grow before you even realize it. Hence, the food that you give may not fulfill the nutritional demands of the child. Vitamins for toddlers are essential for their proper development and growth. Once a baby has been weaned from formula and breast milk, it is important that you feed your child with a diet that is rich in vitamins, minerals, and other essential nutrients. Toddlers require nutrients that are proportionate to their body weight. In addition to these vitamins, toddlers also need a good amount of iron as it is essential to increase the hemoglobin component in the blood.

Hemoglobin is required to carry oxygen throughout the body. A toddler should at least receive ten milligrams of iron each day to meet this requirement.

If your child is a picky eater or fusses over his/her food, then seek the help of a child specialist and get some multi-vitamins for toddlers prescribed for your child.

Any generic type of multi-vitamin is good for your child unless he/she has some serious problem.

Toddler vitamins with iron are a good option as they ensure that your child also receives sufficient iron in his/her diet. Liquid vitamins for toddlers are preferable to the chewable varieties as the solid ones could pose a threat of choking to the child. If your child is a vegetarian make sure that the multi-vitamin supplements have ample amounts of vitamin B12 as a vegetarian diet lacks this vitamin.

Toddler Diet

A toddler’s diet needs proper care and planning. Hence, it is important that you seek a nutritionist’s opinion regarding the same.

A good diet not only keeps your toddler healthy but also protects the child against ailments. Vitamin A is essential for healthy eyesight, good skin, boosting immunity in the child, and for good cell development in the body.

Similarly, vitamin C for toddlers is important as far as the development of the immune system is concerned. It helps in healing wounds, assures the development of healthy bones, and also helps in healthy tissue growth. Besides these, it also helps in the absorption of iron.

You should also give your toddler Vitamin D as it is vital for the absorption of nutrients like calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, phosphorus and other nutrients. Vitamin D is produced by our bodies; however, it may not be enough to meet the body’s requirements.

If you have any questions concerning the dosage of vitamins for your toddler, do consult your doctor.
