What are the signs of miscarriage at 5 weeks?

There are several different signs of miscarriage at 5 weeks, which can alert you to the fact, even if you did not know that you were pregnant. Given below are some of the most common signs of miscarriage at 5 weeks pregnant:

  • Bleeding: In case of a miscarriage, the bleeding you experience is a lot heavier as compared to a normal period. This is because the shedding of the uterine like causes you to pass more blood. Of course, it is too early for you to pass any tissue or recognizable fetus parts. In case the bleeding does not cease within a week, you need to check with your doctor.
  • Cramps: Miscarriage cramps are also usually a lot more severe, as compared to menstrual cramps. You may have severe cramps in the lower abdominal area, which come and go. A feeling of heaviness in the abdomen also usually accompanies the cramps.
  • Discharge: While the discharge that appears before a menstrual cycle is clear and white in appearance, miscarriage discharge is usually brownish or pinkish-red in color.
