Motion sickness is a term that is referred to the feeling of being unwell when traveling. Pregnant women tend to have motion sickness. Traveling makes them feel like throwing up. In fact, nausea and vomiting are the common symptoms of motion sickness.

  • While traveling by car, pregnant women should sit in the front seat, and keep the windows open to inhale fresh air to relieve the symptoms of motion sickness. While traveling on a plane, pregnant women should take a seat that is ahead of the wings of the plane for a smooth journey.
  • Another effective technique to relieve motion sickness in pregnant women is the use of aromatherapy. The use of various essential oils such as mint, ginger, and lavender are good for distraction while traveling.
  • Acupressure is an effective technique to cure motion sickness in pregnant women.

    Acupressure is an ancient Chinese medicinal technique that involves the use of needles on several points of the body (called acupressure points) to cure various ailments, including motion sickness.
  • Pregnant women must eat and drink well before traveling. This helps in hastening gastric emptying, and thereby prevents the symptoms of motion sickness from coming on. A cup of a caffeinated drink is highly recommended before traveling in order to avoid the incidence of motion sickness in pregnant women.

Motion sickness is a serious concern and should be avoided. It can affect the state of the pregnant woman by being troublesome in itself, thereby affecting the health of the child.
