  • You can try psyllium husk to get relief from constipation. Mix some in water or in low-fat yogurt and drink/eat it for relief. You can mix some in warm milk for relief too.
  • It is advisable to drink a glass of warm milk before you go to bed.
  • Another of constipation remedies during pregnancy is eating food rich in fiber. Include foods like vegetables, fruits, lentils and beans. Include cereals and oats too. You can cook soups with lots of veggies, toss a fruit and veggie salad, make a pot of hearty lentil soups and boil some beans and toss it with herbs to create a quick and innovative sandwich filling. You should eat at least five servings of veggies and fruits every day.

  • It is advisable to exercise every day. Include some activity every day into your routine. A walk, a swim (if your health care provider gives you the go ahead), yoga or Pilate. Choose an activity you enjoy. Exercise not only helps bring relief from constipation, it will also help you have an easier labor and will help you feel energized.
  • You might also like to try out a simple home remedy. Squeeze some lime juice and mix some honey in a glass of warm water. Drink this every day first thing in the morning. This helps to ease constipation.
